Christening Cake (With Bow)

This was a christening cake made for a friend of mine.  It is a caramel mud cake covered in caramel butter cream, and then with fondant icing.  All of the decorations including the bow are made of fondant icing.  The letters were really difficult.....I made heaps of them that I threw away. There must be a trick to making these....:-)  All the letters are hand painted using edible silver paint.  The bow was made by moulding fondant icing strips around cardboard tubes.  The strips themselves were made using a special cutting roller that ensured that all strips were exactly the same width.  I thought the bow would be difficult to make but it actually turned out to be the easiest......my first bow....pretty happy with the result.

Brontosaurus Birthday Cake

I made this cake for my son Daniel for his 10th birthday.....he wanted a T-Rex but he had to settle for the brontosaurus.  The cake is a chocolate mud cake covered in fondant icing.  The brontosaurus is LCM bars that have been shaped into a dinosaur shape then covered in two layers of fondant icing.  The green board is a simple cardboard board that has been covered in fondant icing. There is cake wire all throughout the dinosaur to hold it together (plenty of wire!!).

One Direction Cake

Harry Styles

I made this cake for a friend of ours who is a mad One direction fan.  The cake is a chocolate mud cake covered in chocolate ganache.  All the decorations are made of fondant icing.  The hair on the five faces was made by passing fondant icing through my spaghetti maker (will try piping icing next time).  The little hearts at the base of the cake form a ring right around it.....I bought these pre-made. The eyes are also made of fondant with edible ink used to draw the eye pupils.....you can draw the entire eye using ink (maybe next time).  The eyebrows, nose and mouth are also drawn on using edible ink
